The Red Barn Community Music Series presents The Idiomatiques in concert. The Santa Barbara based Idiomatiques combine instrumental virtuosity with vocals and comedy using a mixture of Gypsy Jazz, Latin, mainstream jazz and even some R’nB. The band draws mainly from Gypsy Jazz, but the musicians, accomplished in many genres, each bring their own flair. The Idiomatiques recently became the first Gypsy Jazz band in history to place in Billboard’s contemporary jazz top 30 chart. Members of the band have worked with Gilles Apap, Michael Jackson, Boyz ll Men, Larry Carlton, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Ronnie Laws and a host of other world renowned recording artists. The concert is on Saturday, July 1, in the Red Barn located at the Los Osos Community Park. Doors open at 4:30 pm; potluck at 5:00 pm; concert at 6:00 pm.
The Idiomatiques have recently released their debut album, Let’s Go Have Some Fun. Chock full of swinging Gypsy standards, original compositions and unique arrangements, this generous musical offering (14 tracks) has got enough fun and variety for even the most austere listener. CRAIG SHARMAT – along with his monster guitar chops, Craig is a composer and producer whose early career included touring with Ronnie Laws and Randy Crawford before recording his own Billboard chart-topping hits. KIM COLLINS – nationally published vocal arranger, composer, player, singer and voiceover artist, Kim has spent his life in music both as a performer & educator from college level to elementary school. He is equally at home in an all-instrumental ensemble and an a cappella vocal group. About the Red Barn Community Music Series
The Red Barn Community Music Series is a monthly concert series showcasing local, regional and national musicians performing old time, bluegrass, swing, Celtic, blues, and other forms of acoustic roots music. A $15.00 fee is collected at the door (no tickets are sold in advance). All proceeds from the show go directly to the artists. The Red Barn is located in the Los Osos Community Park at 2180 Palisades Ave., Los Osos. Doors open at 4:30pm, the potluck supper and potluck band start at 5:00pm, the show begins at 6:00pm. BYOB, a dish to share and your own utensils for the potluck supper.
