Promoting people doing business in Los Osos/Baywood Park

About Los Osos/Baywood Park

Los Osos | Baywood Park, California is one of the hidden secrets of California’s scenic Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Many visitors to the Central Coast don’t even know this little gem of a town exists, so we are here to encourage you to explore the Valley of the Bears. Listen to the quiet and stillness that only a small town in the untouched countryside can provide. Discover our wide-open spaces, the truly magical Montaña de Oro State Park, the unique quirky vibe of Baywood Park and the fun shopping and dining options our small town offers. Our thriving community welcomes visitors and supports the local businesses that give character to our town.

Congratulations to the

2025 Los Osos/Baywood

Citizens of the Year

Elizabeth Denny

Elizabeth Denny arrived in Los Osos in her mid-20s and quickly made a lasting impact. She founded The Positive Change Movement, a community service organization that connects people with volunteer opportunities and kindness-driven projects. True to the belief that one person can spark change, Liz creates initiatives that support vulnerable community members and invites others to easily join in. She also founded the Pawsitive Rescue Network, dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters and finding them loving homes.

Elizabeth works at the Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center, is a proud member of the Kiwanis Club of Bay-Osos, and enjoys traveling, cheering on the San Francisco Giants, and spending time with friends and family.

Margarete Schmidt

Los Osos’ Save Cuesta Inlet embodies Margaret Mead’s belief that a small group of committed people can change the world. Longtime visitor Margarete Schmidt moved to Los Osos full-time in 2019 and was stunned to discover Cuesta Inlet was privately owned and for sale. Drawing on decades of organizational and leadership experience, she helped launch Save Cuesta Inlet with a clear vision: preserve the inlet for public access forever. After 43 months of tireless negotiation, fundraising, and community advocacy, that vision became reality when escrow closed on December 5. Cuesta Inlet is now public land—an enduring grassroots victory benefiting residents and visitors alike.

Congratulations to these 2025 Awardees!
