Friends of the Los Osos Library

The Friends of Los Osos Library evolved from the original South Bay Library Association, organized in the mid-1970's by interested community members who were also pushing for a bigger library. We are incorporated as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with the stated purposes to:

give financial support to the library beyond what the county system provides
let the community know what services are available
encourage and promote literary activity and achievement among the general public

The Friends have been raising funds for a bigger library too. So far several issues, including the snail and the sewer, have stymied the effort, but there is increasing pressure to provide staff space and remodel the stacks.
