I’m Cheri Grimm, and I’ve been the Treasurer for the LOBP Chamber of Commerce for (the most part of) the past several years. And, it’s time for me to step down and make room for someone else to experience this very rewarding position. I’m hoping that there might be a good bookkeeper out there who would like to volunteer to become the Treasurer/Bookkeeper for our Chamber.
The job has brought me an overview of the commerce in Los Osos/Baywood Park, and the Chamber meetings are the perfect place to bring new ideas to support and improve the health of our business community. It is fun to have an inside look on the many yearly events that the Chamber sponsors that give our businesses a boost. The meetings are a place to interact up close with the other Chamber Board members which span a very interesting and diverse cross section of our town.
The bookkeeping duties include paying bills (using both online banking and writing checks), receiving and recording deposit info, maintaining QuickBooksOnline and reconciling bank statement, preparing payroll (2 employees paid semi-monthly), calculating and paying monthly payroll taxes and filing quarterly and year-end payroll reports, preparing monthly financial reports for presentation to the Board.
The Treasurer duties include presenting the financial reports and answering questions, attending the monthly Executive Committee meeting and the monthly Board meeting, preparing the budget and attending the annual Retreat where the budget is presented and discussed and adopted. The Treasurer is also responsible for assisting the Board in maintaining the overall financial health of the Chamber.
You will be able to ease into the job gradually. We’d like to “fill” the position now which will allow the new Treasurer/bookkeeper to work with me over the next couple of months, be elected in November, and comfortably be ready to take over January 1st.
One of my core beliefs is that we each have a responsibility to give back to the communities in which we live. And, I so strongly believe in the importance that businesses (especially small businesses) play in the health and well-being of Los Osos/Baywood Park. Over the years, thanks to my involvement with the Chamber, I’ve been so fortunate to have met the most wonderful people and made some great friends. It’s an experience for which I’m extremely grateful. If this sounds like something you’re qualified for and interested in, please contact me (Cheri@CheriGrimm.com, 805-528-1360) or our Executive Director, Dawn Rodden (email@example.com, 805-528-48848). We’ll both be happy to talk with you and answer your questions.
